(1) Choose the type of screens

Frontal projection: It is the common type of projection screen including manual screen, electric screen, tripod screen and pull up screen

Rear projection: hard surface screen(hyperbola screen and diffusion screen) and soft surface screen(Diffusion screen) of various specifications.The images shown on hard surface screen ia batter than that on soft surface screen. The soft surface acreens are mainly two types: fast installation type and simple frame type

(2) choose the best screen size

The choice of an appropriate screen size mainly depends on area space and the  number of audience seats and the layout of audience seats. First thing is to choose an appropriate size which is suitable for the audience rather than suitable for the projector.That is to say put the visual perception of the audience in the first place.

Here is some references for the choice of an appropriate screen size

1. The screen height should be set to enable each row of the audience clearly see the content shown on he projection screen.

2. The distance between the first row of seats and the projection screen should be more than 2 times the height of the screen.

3. The screen bottom edge should be around 1.5 meters away from the ground.

(3) choose an appropriate format(aspect ratio) suitable for the projecion equipment. Common formats are listed as follows:

Image format screen ratio (width/height)

VGA signal, projector, NTSC and PAL are 4:3 HDTV (high definition TV) 16:9/widescreen 1.85 projector 1:1.

(4) Choice of screen surface material

The screen surface material that you choose should be suitable for your projector and the needs of the audience. However,when a screen will be used for more than one projector, then the screen fabric should be choosen to meet the need for the projector which requires higher standard screen. 

For example, when you have both the projector and slide projector, and because the projector's light output is lower than slide projector, so choose the screen material which have an appropriate reflectivity(gain) parameters for the projector.

However, because most of the projector have a high brightness, then choosing the matte white screen which has lower reflectivity (gain) compared with the Glass-beaded will offer better projection result instead.
